When I was a younger man, I lived my life planing. Waiting for the right time to make my moves. And I did, but I didn’t always get it right. Sometimes my timing was wrong.

What makes it the right time to do something? What does this mean? Well, at a basic level it can be about your ability to deal with the risk related to the opportunity in front of you.

But the problem with this reduction, is that there is a variable missing. The timing of the opportunity. Sometimes these are easy to predict, you could choose to do this thing at any time, therefore it is irrelevant. But for the larger opportunities that live affords us, this is rarely the case.

I have grown into a new way of thinking about this. There is no such thing as the right time. This does not mean that there is no such thing as the wrong time. There are certainly times in life where it is obvious we should not take an opportunity.

It means to not fear the opportunities in front of you, even if the timing is not perfect, or you are worried it might not work out. If it is interesting give it a go. Life is short.

We can only control what we can control. One of the things we cannot control, is timing. Opportunities come when they come. Seize what you can, and believe in yourself.
